Bermuda captive challenges validity of $400,000 claim

A Bermuda-based captive and its U. S. parent have filed a lawsuit in Arizona in an attempt to avoid having to pay reinsurance claims totaling $409,586.
The lawsuit was filed by Kettlebrook Insurance Company Ltd., which is incorporated in Bermuda, and Invitrogen Corporation, which is incorporated in Delaware and based in California, against Employers Insurance Company of Wausau, a.k.a. Employers Insurance of Wausau, a Wisconsin-based mutual insurer, at the U. S. District Court for the District of Arizona on January 18, 2006.
