In 2001, Robert Hoyt was a 21-year-old mechanical engineer with a bachelors degree in metallurgy from an Ivy League school. Robert had always dreamed of working on aircraft, specifically aircraft with military applications. He had applied to Boeing and was immediately accepted.
He was promoted over the next 18 months from increasingly more important projects. However, the latest promotion required him to apply for a security clearance. For the purpose of this story, the level of the clearance is unimportant, what is important was the US Government subsequently denied the clearance and then asked why he had failed to disclose his prior employment and a nine-year-old felony conviction for multiple counts of money laundering.
