U.S. Prosecutor to discuss first FATCA conviction at OffshoreAlert Miami

A U.S. federal prosecutor who helped secure the first-ever criminal conviction – of an offshore banker – under the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act will talk about the case at next month’s OffshoreAlert Conference in Miami.

Assistant U.S. Attorney David Gopstein, of New York, will be joined by lawyer Michael Levy, of Mayer Brown, and Alex Shea, of Guidehouse, to discuss the investigation and prosecution of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines-domiciled Loyal Bank and related parties in England and Mauritius, including its former CEO Adrian Baron, and, generally, the risks faced by offshore professional service providers under FATCA.
